Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue and red wool, double cloth with tied areas. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on both sides; top and bottom hemmed. Central motif consists of a huge compass rose medallion surrounded by grapevines. Within the centerfield, at the top and bottom of the coverlet, there are flowers on a geometric lattice work. Border is a scrolling floral and leaf vine framed by a line of dotted blocks a rope pattern.
