Description

Overshot coverlet; undyed cotton and red and blue wool. Coverlet consists of two panels joined with a butted seam; the stitching and matching thread suggests that the seam is original. The edge finishes consist of two selvedges and two narroqw turned back hems on the warp ends. The main design motif is a 6 inch blue and white block which alternates with a smaller red table; the overall effect is one of red stripes alternating with a stripe of blue and white. There is a 6 inch boreder on three sides.
