Description

Overshot coverlet; white cotton and blue wool. Selvedges on either side. The top hem is 3/4 wide and machine stitched. Warp self-fringe at the bottom; the fringe has two rows of knots. The central motif is a fancy table with a small rose at each corner, all of which are enclosed in an indented ring. The ring portions of the motif interlock. This pattern appears to be identical to one that is commonly called 'whig rose.' There is a wide border of elongated interlocking rings on three sides.
