Scope and Content

Lutee M. Guptill, was born in Gouldsboro, Maine, January 28, 1873. She and brother Marcus, both single, lived on their family’s farm all their lives, first with their parents, then with each other until their own deaths. Her daily journal covers five of her later years, from January 1939 - October 1943, with details of her daily life on the farm, the chores, the weather, the family gatherings, their comings and goings. She marks birthdays and death days, including the death of Marcus on January 1, 1943. Lutee died September 12, 1949 at the age of 76 and is buried in West Bay Cemetery in Gouldsboro.
