Personal "lap" organ of Rita Bole, long time leader and first president of Lyndon Normal School and Lyndon Teachers College eras. This item was deaccessioned from the collections at nearby Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury, VT. Peggy Pearl gifted this item to Manor Vail Society - Lyndon in 2017. Peggy Pearl is Executive Director of the St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center. She felt this item aligned more closely with the collection at Vail Museum.Context
It is no understatement to say that without Rita Bole, Lyndon, in all of its iterations, would not exist. She devoted her life to the growth and excellence of the institution she loved so dearly. There were many times that Lyndon seemed destined to fail. Against great odds, Rita Bole persevered, repeatedly convincing the State of Vermont that Lyndon was essential to the education and economic growth of Vermonters in the Northeast Kingdom and beyond. This organ, as a personal possession of Rita Bole, is significant because of its connection to her.Cataloged By
