Description

8 x 10 screen-printed brushed metal plaque mounted on wood, commemorating Manor Vail Society founding member, Dick Collins ’53. Dick had a very strong preference for Dick, over Richard. This plaque was presented to Dick Collins on September 22, 2018 at the MVS annual meeting during Homecoming. The phrase “It's all your fault!” came from Joyce Selby Jacobs ’54, also an alum of Lyndon Teachers College and a life long friend of Dick’s. In 2009, when Dick Collins floated the idea for an organization devoted to preserving the Vail Mansion era of the college, he badgered his contemporaries to join until they literally couldn't refuse. Dick wouldn't take no for an answer. At a meeting of MVS during the 2010’s, when Dick was expressing some frustration with all there was to accomplish, Joyce just looked at him and quipped, “Well you know, Dick, it’s all your fault!” Needless to say, the room erupted in laughter. Dick Collins passed away on November 8, 2019. The plaque says it all.
