Copeland, Jr., two of the African American raiders who came to Harpers Ferry, VA with abolitionist John Brown to free slaves. The raid on the Federal Arsenal failed and no slaves were freed. Green and Copeland were hanged in Charles Town, VA (WV) on December 16, 1859. This publication captures the last two months of their lives which were spent in the Charles Town jail.Acquisition
