LIB698Description
Introduction from the book:
As a former gardener to the President of the United States during the Johnson and Nixon Administrations, I look back across the years and still feel captivated and proud that I had the unique privilege to have worked among the shadows of our living memorials to the presidents. A White House presidential tree is a special and meaningful remembrance to an American leader and whispers to us of its living linkage to American history.
This book deals specifically with the botanical characteristics, sylvan environment, podological/geomorphological environment and pertinent remarks of a very select group of trees. This volume is offered as an ancillary document to students of natural science, White House visitors and to the gardeners currently serving on the horticultural staff of the White House.
