A biography of Charles Broadway Rouss (1836-1902), Winchester, Va., merchant who became a successful merchant in New York City. He was a generous benefactor to Winchester and to a much lesser degree Charles Town. Rouss' father, Peter Hoke Rouss, owned Shannon Hill, along the Shenandoah River near Kabletown. Charles B. Rouss built Shannon Park near Shannon Hill as a summer home in the 1880s. Other members of the Rouss family lived in the area for many years. Physical Description: Inscribed on first page "Mrs. W. P.
