Black and white mounted photo of the bridge over the Potomac River in Shepherdstown. View is taken from Shepherdstown facing toward Maryland. The bridge was raised off its piers as a precaution against flooding, but still was destroyed by the 1936 flood. In the foreground of the photo are the ruins of the Shepherd Sawmill, which was destroyed by a previous flood in the 19th century.
