Powhatan Hotel. Artist was Wright, Philadelphia. Glued to cardstock. The Powhatan Hotel was built in 1892 on the lot where the old Jefferson Memorial Hospital was located on 3rd Avenue in Ranson. It later became the Powhatan College for Young Women and then St. Hilda's Hall, a school for girls. Hotel Powhatan was also known as Wormley's Inn, after its proprietor, James T. Wormley, son of James Wormley, a prominent African American hotelier in Washington, D.C..
