Description

Miss Lucy Ambler's silver service. A gift to her aunt, Mrs. Robert T. Brown, from the Petersburg Grays and the Petersburg City Guards, December 21, 1859. Items returned to the Petersburg Museum Corp. 1965. Attached newspaper article is from The Progress-Index, Sunday, February 7, 1965. Inscription reads: "Presented to Mrs. Robert T. Brown, A Memento of the Soldier's Gratitude for Woman's Welcome, December 1859". Around the curved base of the flagon are engraved the names of the men who stayed at the home of Mrs. Brown.
