Yardstick with the words LEGGETT'S THE SOUTH'S LARGEST DISTRIBUTORS OF RELIABLE MERCHANDISE on one side and LEGGETT'S DEPARTMENT STORE- CHARLES TOWN, WEST VIRGINIA on the other, underneath the measuring portion of the yardstick. Used for advertising and as complimentary gifts for customers. Leggett's operated in Charles Town in the 1960s and 1970s in the building at 225 West Washington Street where the American Legion is today (2013). The building was erected for the Pitts Jefferson Theater, probably in the 1940s.
