Wool World War I (WWI) tunic, pants and spiral puttees, belonging to Frank Buckles. Olive drab in color. Tunic has patch on left shoulder of 27th Infantry Division which is red and black with a spiral design and small red stars. On the right side of collar is a round bronze insignia with "NY" superimposed over larger "US" with a "7" below. On left side of collar is a round bronze insignia with a "7" over crossed rifles with a "C" below. Three service stripes at left cuff indicating the soldier spent 18 months overseas. Pants are riding style with form fitting legs at bottom. Laces are on bottom for tightening. Handwritten in ink inside the waist band on back is "Cpl. Buckles 15577 Frank W." There is a loose cloth corporal's insignia with the uniform with the medical corps insignia below the stripes. There are two spiral puttees with strings for tying. These were wrapped around the legs from approximately the instep up much like an ace bandage.
