Upper photo: Hunter's Law Row, southeast corner of Public Square, intersection of George and Washington Streets. The building was owned by Andrew Hunter and his family from 1837 until 1905 when they sold the building to the Farmers and Merchants Deposit Company. Over the years attorneys William L. Wilson and George W. Baylor, law partners; Judge Frank Beckwith and Thomas Claiborne Green, law partners; had offices here. James H. Thompson, barber shop operator and his assistant Walter Moten. Thompson is standing on the sidewalk in front of his shop and Moten is standing in the doorway. Standing in front of his office is insurance agent Thomas Rutherford Moore, Sr. (IMG6) Lower photo left: Farmers and Merchant Deposit Company, southeast corner of intersection of George and Washington Streets. Hunter's Law Row was torn down in April 1907 and the Farmers and Merchants Deposit Company was built on the site.
