Cat. #1053a is United States Legion of Merit awarded to BG V. Wayne Lloyd with lapel pin. Ribbon is light burgundy in color with thin white border. Medal itself is a gold circle with a star shape of five white arms with burgundy border. In center is a blue field with small gold stars in a star shape. On back around circle is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". In small circle in center is "ANNUIT COEPTIS MDCCLXXXII".
Cat. # 1053b is padded leather or leatherette box for medal. Medal is on gray cloth padding. White cloth liner on top of inside of box. Outside in lower right corner is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
Cat. # 1053c is citation and certificate for Legion of Merit. Citation reads in part " Colonel Virgil W. Lloyd distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious conduct in performance f outstanding services---------------167th Airlift Wing, Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport-Shepherd Field---------------". At bottom left is a gold seal of the Departments of the Army and Air Force National Guard Bureau.
