Cat. #1055a is the Distinguished Service Medal with lapel pin. Ribbon has wide white stripe down center with two thinner blue stripes down each side. Blue stripes are border by thin gold stripes. Medal itself blue stone in center with thirteen gold points between which are thirteen white stars. Cat. #1055b is dark blue leather or leatherette box for medal. On outside of box is "DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Cat. #1055c is citation and certificate for medal. Citation reads in part "---------The President ----------awards the Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Virgil W. Lloyd-----------General Lloyd distinguished himself as Chief of Staff and Commander, West Virginia Air National Guard, Charleston, West Virginia------------He is former 167th Airlift Wing Commander,------------------". Cat. #1055d is certificate for medal which reads in part "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA---------------THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL TO BRIGADIER GENERAL VIRGIL W. LLOYD-----29 April 2004" Signed by Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force. Cat. # 1055D is blue plastic folder holding citation and certificate. On front of folder is round silver seal of the Department of the Air Force.
