Accompanying newspaper article reads: "The house, according to records in the County Clerk's office, was built between 1844-46 by a Dr. Alexander who later resided on the farm now occupied by J. Henry Dutrow, on the Harpers Ferry pike. It was for years the home of Mrs. Rebecca Hunter, and later occupied by her daughter and son-in-law, the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. Travers, the grandparents of Mr. and Miss Coe."
Handwritten note reads: "The Travers house. Land on which this house stands was bought from Mr. Bushrod Washington by Mr. Sappington in 1840. House built in 1842 by him. Bought in 1850 by Mrs. R. Hunter. A lady who never changed the style of her dress the last 40 years of her life. Owned and lived in by her descendants 1936."
