Description

British pattern 1907 knife bayonet, manufactured in May 1918 by English company, Wilkinson Sword Co., with wooden grip, metal pommel, metal crosspiece, and metal blade. Bayonet has a number of markings on both sides at the base of the blade, including 1907 (pattern date) 5 '18 (date of manufacture), Wilkinson (manufacturer), X (bending mark, proof of blade), and stylized crown (reign mark). Other marks are not legible. Although manufactured in 1918, the bayonet is the same pattern as those used during World War I by members of the Allied Expeditionary Force, including U.S. soldiers.
