Rectangular cast iron stove plate with GEORGE NORTH & CO across top, urn with chains in center, and KEEP-TRYST FURNACE at bottom. George North, a Pennsylvania ironmaster, managed the Keeptryst Furnace, located at the confluence of Elk Run and the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, from 1790 to 1800. (Theriault, William D. 1989.
