Western Union Telegram dated December 17, 1859. "Medical Students took remains of Copeland & Green to Winchester for dissection. H A Wise". This telegram was sent to Mayor Beecher of Oberlin, Ohio from Governor Wise. The mother of Copeland had asked the Mayor of Oberlin to petition Governor Wise for the body of her son.
