Seven reward of merit school cards given to Claud (or Claude) Koonce. All cards have floral decorations.
-Card showing a bird (reverse has handwriting, but is too faded to read)
-Card showing a butterfly (handwritten in ink on reverse: "Second prize in his spelling class, fourth month of the Halltown School. Jan. 13th, 1885.")
-Card showing a girl carrying basket on her head (handwritten in ink on reverse: "The greatest number of [illegible] in the fourth spelling class in the third month of Halltown School Dec. 3d 1883")
-Card showing a boy with tool over his shoulder at fence (reverse is blank).
-Card (old cat. # 720) with pink flower and green leaves on blue background. In rectangle on card "REWARD OF MERIT Presented to Claud Koonce Eml. Schaeffer. Teacher". Handwritten in script on back "The greatest number of headmarks in the third spelling class, eighth month of Halltown May 16th 1884." On display in Case 36
-Card (old cat. # 721) with pink and white flowers and green leaves. In rectangle at top "REWARD OF MERIT Presented to Claude Koonce Eml. Schaeffer. Teacher". Handwritten on back "For the greatest number of headmarks in his spelling class, sixth month of the Halltown School March 11th 1886." On display in Case 36
-Card (old cat. # 722) with girl with basket picking flowers, pink rose, green leaves. Written below rose "Claud Koonce". Written on back in script "First prize in fourth spelling class; fourth month of Halltown School Jan 10th 1884." On display in Case 36Acquisition
