Two items belonging to Nimrod Ware: (1) A list of personal effects of Dr. Nimrod Ware, including "1 Silk Flag - Confederate Artillery" - the Chew flag. Printed in script at top "United States Consulate, Nagasaki, Japan." Dated May 11, 1881. Signed as received, except Confederate flag (which went to Roger P. Chew , by John F. Ware, October 27, 1883. (2) Gray paper envelope lined with cloth. Small piece of string attached to left side. Printed in script "United States Consulate at" (handwritten) "Nagasaki, Japan" (printed script) "Department of State Washington U.S.A." Written in script "Effects of Dr. Ware. an American Citizen who died at Nagasaki in 1872 - Sent by the U.S.S. 'Richmond'". Note: Scanned replicas of these two documents are on display in the gallery in exhibit case 12.
