Yardstick with the words LEGGETT'S THE SOUTH'S LARGEST DISTRIBUTORS OF RELIABLE MERCHANDISE underneath the measuring portion of the yardstick on both sides. One side is stamped with black ink, the other with red. Used for advertising and as complimentary gifts for customers. Leggett's operated in Charles Town in the 1960s and 1970s in the building at 225 West Washington Street where the American Legion is today (2013). The building was erected for the Pitts Jefferson Theater, probably in the 1940s.
