Indenture between husband and wife, John and Ruth Cart, and John Melvin, of Barkley County (Berkeley County), Va.; signed by the Mayor of Philadelphia, in the province of Pennsylvania; dated December 15, 1772, and sealed and delivered on November 15, 1773. The red sealing wax is still present and a single tie string is attached on the side of the parchment. Lord Fairfax is mentioned in the document.
