Description

Marine Band harmonica (1417) made by M. Hohner and original cardboard box (1417A and 1417B). Harmonica probably dates from the mid to late 1930s. There is a single tab at each end the full width of the cover. The upper tabs bear the key of the harp at the right (this one is key of C) and A440 at the left. The rear of the covers have lipped edges that have been folded back against the inside of the covers. The trademark has hands and a star; the WIEN and PHILAD. medals have single circles, while the ULM and STUTTGART medals have double circles. Source is http://patmissin.com. Box is white cardboard with black and white picture of the U. S. Marine Band; to the right of the picture, printed in red: "MARINE BAND MADE BY M. HOHNER GERMANY No 1896". Glued inside box lid is label about the Hohner harmonica and another label about learning to play your harmonica is glued to the bottom of the box.
