Resolution written September 7, 1861, by V. M. Butler, Chairman, Officers of the 2nd Regiment of Virginia Infantry, on the occasion of the death of Lt. Col. Frank Lackland of Jefferson County. Three newspaper clippings on Lackland's death from: 1. Spirit of Jefferson, September 5, 1861 2. Spirit of Jefferson, September 1861, concerning Col. J. W. Allen's report on the action of the 2nd Regiment Infantry during the engagement of the 21st, noting the "gallantry of Lt. Col. Lackland" in the Battle of Manassas, July 21, 1861. 3. Richmond Whig a ...(rest of name missing), February 3, 1862, on the official report of Gen. Jos. E. Johnston on the Battle of Manassas, July 21, 1861. Written in pencil at the top of clipping are the words "Frank Lackland was born May 20th 1830 died Sep 4th 1861"
