A Works Progress Administration (WPA) project concerning veterans' graves in Jefferson County:
Work sheets made for Henry Clay Cox, Supervisor of Registration of Veterans' Graves, Charleston, WV, showing veterans buried in Jefferson County from the French & Indian War up to the year 1939. Total number of veterans inventoried was 1,107 (1,030 were known; 77 were unknown). Cemeteries included small, family cemeteries in Jefferson County.
Sheets were arranged in binders by American Legion, Jackson-Perks Post, No. 71, S.H. Stone, Commander. Local workers involved in completing this inventory were: J.R. Dunn, Bolivar; Charles S. Gray, Millville; Charles H. Reek, Bolivar; Joseph K. Mauzy, Bolivar; Norman E. Johnson, Charles Town.
