Scope and Content

Photograph album of Osburn family, presumably the family of Franklin Osburn, Sr., and Henrietta Williams Warner, based on a comparison of names of persons in the album with the genealogy of the Osburn family by George B. Shutt, 1975 (see JCM genealogy files under Osburn). Franklin Osburn farmed and operated a mercantile business in Kabletown in the mid-1800s and presumably subsequently moved to Pennsylvania. Album is bound in brown leather with gold patterned trim and "Album" on spine and "Osburn" penned on first page. A silver colored clasp is present on the front cover but its mate is missing from the back cover. Pages are of heavy stock with sleeves to hold pictures front and back. The first 14 pages display one image front and one back; the last three pages display four images front and four back. Inside first page is a loose card with image of an oriental man labeled "Heathen Chinee." Names on pages include: Harry J. Osburn ??? Neill (photo loose) Laggart Steele (photo missing) Kalie Steele (photo missing) John Steele Uncle Nelson (photo missing) Mary Warner Olmsted Frank Osburn Sr & Cousin Jannie James Warren Osburn H. McGill (photo missing) Mr. Morse Rosa Neill Annie (?) Washington (photo missing) Loose between pages are seven portraits (~ 2 1/2" x 4") and six medium-sized photographs/prints. One engraving printed for the Medical Class of the University of Pennsylvania is entitled Phillip Syng Physick, M.D., has inked signature below which may be his autograph. One small photograph of a man in coat with bow tie has "1877, August Charlestown" penciled on its back.
