Description

The Bakerton Post Office was established on April 1, 1890. Services were discontinued on September 13, 1963, and transferred to Harpers Ferry; however, they were restored in September 1988 after town residents petitioned the U.S. Post Office. Preston L. Millard was appointed Postmaster on April 30, 1897, and at 42 years of service may be the longest serving Jefferson County postmaster.
