John Brown's Fort, Harpers Ferry, W. Va. John Brown and his followers captured this Engine house in Harpers Ferry and defended it against the U.S. Army until captured by Col. Robert E. Lee on Oct. 18, 1859. The Fort and most of Harpers Ferry is now administered by the National Park Service.
