A scrapbook compiled by Maude R. Clipp (Mrs. James B. Clipp), Mountain View, W.Va. A handwritten note on the first page indicates that she started the scrapbook in 1937. The book contains primarily newspaper clippings from 1934 to 1940 on local, national, and international events and people, along with recipes, personal notes, and three 1880s property tax receipts from Gerardstown District of Berkeley County.
Maude Clipp lived on the Blue Ridge Mountain in Jefferson County across the Shenandoah River from the Kabletown and Myerstown area. Her choice of local clippings often reflected her connections in the mountain communities and the communities across the river. Some of the mountain communities mentioned are Christ Church, Fairmount (or Fairmont), Riverside, Rock's Ferry, and St. Andrew's Mission.Acquisition
