ARC916-1: Shepherd College Normal School diploma awarded to Eva Mae Knotts, from the State of West Virginia, dated June 6, 1929. Signed by Shepherd College Normal School president, W. H. S. White, and dean, A. D. Kenamond, and by State Board of Education president, W. C. Cook, and four other State Board of Education members. At bottom of diploma is a ribbon with blue fabric and golden seal with embossed words: "State Superintendent of Free Schools, State of West Virginia" (ARC916-1 is oversized and stored in SR2/FF2/D11/F2) ARC916-2: Paper roll: "Diploma, Name: Eva Mae Knotts, Standard Normal, Please return to office." ARC916-3: Teacher's Certificate of Training and Experience, filled out and signed by Eva Knotts Jones, November 8, 1939. The document states that she attended Shepherd College and Fairmont College and provides a list of her teaching experience at schools in Preston County, West Virginia. ARC916-4: Letter from T. A. Lowery, Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools, addressed to Eva K. Jones, dated June 8, 1951. Letter discusses transfer of Jones from Millville School. ARC916-5: First Class Elementary Certificate, granted to Eva Mae Knotts Jones, from the State of West Virginia, valid from July 1, 1942 to July 1, 1947. Stamp of renewal issued August 7, 1947 and valid until July 1, 1952. Second stamp of renewal issued July 1, 1952 and valid until July 1, 1957. On the back of the certificate are multiple stamps indicating that the certificate was filed and renewed in the Office of Secretary of the Board of Education and signed by the secretary at the time (e.g., Kenneth N. Shaffer (Preston County), H. M. Sydnor (Jefferson County), and T. A. Lowery (Jefferson County)). ARC916-6: Professional Certificate Permanent, granted to Eva Knotts Jones, to teach all subjects grades 1 through 9 and english and social studies in grades 7 through 9 in West Virginia. Granted by State of West Virginia's Department of Education, July 1, 1957. On the back of the certificate are multiple stamps indicating that the certificate was filed and renewed in the Office of Secretary of the Board of Education of Jefferson County and signed by T. A. Lowery. Latest renewal date is 1962.
