IMG3937Description
A collection of images of the ruins of Avondale (Avon Dale) in 2010; occupied by Balaam Osborn and Mary Chew Osborn and other members of the Osburn family; owned in 2010 by Charles and Franklin W. (Woody) Adams.
The ruins of the house are located off Mill Road near old Kabletown Union Church ruins. Originally built as a two-story log cabin with stone foundation and basement containing a large fireplace on the north side. The chimney and a second fireplace/chimney on south wall of cabin were apparently cut off during later reconstruction. Later a larger house was built behind log cabin making the whole structure L-shaped.
See IMG3869 for a painting of the house before it fell into ruins.
South of the house is an old corn crib described as a post and beam building with scarf joinery.Acquisition
