Locust Hill, c. 1970s; view of east entrance; built 1840 by John Bainbridge Packett and Lucy Elizabeth Washington Packett (daughter Samuel Walter and Louisa Clemson Washington; granddaughter George Steptoe and Lucy Payne Washington; great-granddaughter Samuel and Anne Steptoe Washington). Locust Hill was on the ground where the Battle of Cameron's Depot was fought on August 21st, 1864 and its west wall was damaged during the fighting. The house was destroyed by fire in 1973.
