American Indian burial site at Glen HavenEntry/Object ID
IMG931Description
Glen Haven Indian excavation. In the summer of 1972 site preparation work at Glen Haven, a development east of Bakerton overlooking the Potomac, unearthed American Indian artifacts. A team of archaeologists led by field director Ellis E. McDowell-Loudan (State University of New York - College at Cortland) spent the summer excavating the site. They determined that the site dated to 1170 A.D. and that it was a single, not successive, occupation over a period of years. The remains of 13 American Indians and numerous relics were discovered at the site.
