These buildings, witness to John Brown;s Raid in 1859 and the "War Between the States" are being restored in part by the U.S. National Park Service. Further up the street on the right private owners have restored their buildings as quaint shops, museums. Shops well local crafts and books as well as West Virginia glass and souvenirs for tourists. Here a most unique Wax Museum tells the story of John Brown's life in life-like figures and action scenes. Near the top of the street are antique shops and a railroad museum.Acquisition
