Hunters Hill. The original house was built in the 1850s by Charles Town attorney Andrew Hunter. In the summer of 1864 Hunters Hill was burned on orders from Union General David Hunter, Andrew Hunter's cousin, due to Andrew Hunter's pro-Confederate support. The house was rebuilt on the original location after the war. Andrew Hunter was the commonwealth's attorney in charge of the prosecution of John Brown and his men in 1859.
