In the foreground is the Shenandoah River Bridge built in 1882 and destroyed by the flood of 1936. The old B & O Railroad bridge crosses the Potomac River left to right in the picture. Just behind the old B & O bridge is the new railroad bridge built in 1896. The control tower for the B & O passenger station can be seen on the extreme left edge.
