From "Old Mills," Magazine of the Jefferson County Historical Society, December 1955 by Louise Singleton Kemp: "Gaunt's Mill: Gaunt's Mill on the Bull Skin was the first mill located at what is now Kabletown. It was later owned and run by Mr. Daniel Kable. In early 1900 [August 1905] it was burned and the place sold to Mr. Mercer, who in turn sold it to Rouss Brothers. They built a cold storage on the old mill site and for years ran it by water power. The cold storage is now owned by Marcus Brothers." Mr. Hoover, assistant miller, is pictured standing in the open doorway.
