Description

The Old Hall, village of Washington, county of Durham, England. The following information comes from an article that accompanies the photograph: George Washington's ancestors lived in the Hall for nearly 200 years. In 1376 the Washingtons sold the Hall to the Blaykestons. Much of the building was pulled down in 1613 and on the site erected the Hall which is still standing (in 1944).
