Jefferson Davis and His Times by Henry W. Battle, D. D. - A speech given before the Augusta Memorial Association for the Confederate Dead in Staunton, VA on Memorial Day, 1917. In this address, Mr. Battle spoke of Jefferson Davis and how important he was for the South. He laments the view that many people have of the role that Davis played in the Civil War, and hopes that some day history will prove that Davis was a hero of the war and not a villain.
