Description

View looking north into Ranson c. 1899. Taken from an approximate position on Samuel Street near Fairfax Boulevard and First Avenue. Buildings are (left) headquarters for the Charles Town Mining, Manufacturing, and Improvement Co. which would become first Charles Town Graded and High School and then town hall for the City of Ranson. On the right is the Hotel Powhatan (also known as Wormley's Inn), which became the Powhatan College for Young Women in 1900 and then St. Hilda's Hall in 1915. Wormley's Inn was founded by James T.
