Description

Woodford Lawn (619 S. Samuel Street). Home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Blackwell Davis. The pink brick, many of the windows, doors and much of the interior trim of this Georgian style house, built circa 1890 by James M. Mason, Jr. are from a house which was torn down in Washington, DC. Of particular note are the two acres of English-style gardens that surround the home. The Davis' have spent 35 years studying and propagating the English and American boxwood that give structure to the many flower beds throughout. Sketches made by Betty Davis. Information compiled by Wanda Perry.
