Handwritten letter from George Washington to his cousin, Col. Burgess Ball, at "Leesburgh". Dated September 22, 1799. Postmarked Alexandria, VA with Washington's signature beneath the address and on the letter. Also shows remains of Washington's seal. George Washington is writing about the death of his brother Charles. Burgess Ball was also the son-in-law of Charles, having married Charles's daughter Frances.
