Copy of a painting attributed to Frederick Kemmelmeyer (active 1788-1803) entitled General William Darke (1736-1803) at the Battle of the Miami Indians.
Copy is painted on board showing Darke with his uniform, tricorn hat and boots on. A sharply pointed rapier is in his left hand pointed down. A curved sword is in his raised right arm as if preparing to strike. A battle is going on in the background between soldiers and Indians. There is a tree on each side of the painting. Dark wood frame with gold edge around painting.Acquisition
