VISIT OUR WEBSITEThe State of Hawai'i Legislature created the Kahoʻolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) to manage the Kahoʻolawe Island Reserve while it is held in trust for a future Native Hawaiian sovereign entity that is recognized by the U.S. federal government and the State of Hawai'i. The Kaho'olawe Living Library is a collection made possible by a growing community of those who celebrate and support Kaho'olawe history and culture. By creating access to these resources, the KIRC furthers its mission of providing access to Kaho'olawe. The items cataloged here are a sample of the current holdings of the KIRC's Archive. The archive holds several collections from different sources: the KIRC itself, collections of objects recovered from Kaho'olawe at various times in the past from various organizations and individual donors who have generously donated their mementos either from Kaho'olawe or about Kaho'olawe.
