APSU Art Collection

These works were purchased from the annual juried student exhibition held by the department of Art+Design using designated CECA funds and selected by the Art+Design faculty.

Works that are part of the University Art Collection, but not associated with a sub-collection

Works purchased with funds from the Hazel Smith Foundation account. Funds were gifted by Mark and Martha Em Raby in honor of Hazel Smith (Martha Em’s great aunt), APSU’s first art teacher.

Selections from this large folk art collection, donated in the Fall of 2012 by Ned and Jacqueline Crouch, include many media, from sculptures and woodwork to paintings and drawings. This collection features works from such artists as Herbert Baggot, E.T. Wickham, Miles Smith, and Roy Ferdinand, Jr. More pieces will be available upon updated photographs

The Robertson Collection is a collection of over 300 magnificent photographs donated to the University by Jim and Nan Robertson. Nan Robertson was herself a talented art student who studied in Arizona in the 1970s and ‘80s. Jim owned the Fifth Avenue Gallery of Photography in Scottsdale, Ariz., which brought him into contact with such distinguished artists as Bill Brandt, Bruce Barnbaum, Ansel Adams, Ruth Bernhard and André Kertesz . Since moving to Dover, Tenn., the couple has been adamant about sharing their passion with the University. The donation gave the University one of the most impressive photography collections in the region.

The Mabel Larson Drawing Collection includes the drawings purchased from the Border to Border Biennial Drawing Exhibition and forms an exquisite contemporary drawing collection in the region

Outdoor sculpture found around campus

The Museum Project, a philanthropic association of photographers founded by Robert von Sternberg and Darryl Curran in 2012, donates vintage and contemporary prints to museum collections as a gesture of gratitude for institutions supporting the art form. The project aims to give back to the museums and universities that have supported photographers' artistic and professional careers. This selection was co-curated by Michael Dickins and Dr. Tony Morris
