manuscript medicinal recipe book from Ephraim Eliot, first president ofthe Massachussetts Pharmaceutical Society, being a list of medicines not included in the 1808 first Massachussetts Pharmacopea.
Prescriptions written on 60 pages, usually recto and verso. A vertical ink line has been drawn down every page where there are prescriptions. In addition there are many blank leaves. Contemporary full leather. Leather very scuffed. Ink stamp of “Ephraim Eliot / Druggist / No. 7 Middle Street / Boston” on front pastedown.
Newspaper clipping, with ink date 1808 glued to first lef. the fist page with prescriptions begins “Prescriptions for sundry compound medicines which are not adopted into the pharmacopoeia of the Massachussetts medical society.”Condition
