Auenbrugger / Corvisart - Nouvelle Methode pour reconnaitre les maladies internes de la Poitrine

Name/Title

Auenbrugger / Corvisart - Nouvelle Methode pour reconnaitre les maladies internes de la Poitrine

Description

DISCOVERY OF THORACIC PERCUSSION. First edition of Corvisart's classic translation of one of the great medical masterpieces. The results of Auenbrugger's experiments, with the immediate percussion of the chest as a new diagnostic method, were first published in Vienna in 1761. For nearly fifty years this revolutionary technique attracted little attention, until Corvisart (1755-1821), Napoleon's personal physician, published his translation of the original text. It was through Corvisart's reputation and advocacy that the value of thoracic percussion was universally recognized. Auenbrugger (1722-1809) was a physician at the Spanish Hospital in Vienna.
